About Bjerkne & Co


Claes Bjerkne founded Bjerkne & Co in 2009, after 20 years as CEO of Göteborg & Co, where he played a key role in transforming the city of Gothenburg into a great European destination and the event capital of Scandinavia. During this period, Claes was also involved in many key initiatives at regional, national and international level.

Bjerkne & Co, part of an international network of destination consultants, is working with cities, companies and organisations who are active in the field of destination development and destination management. Our typical clients are managers and/or political leaders from local and regional authorities who want to develop cities, regions and attractions.

News

  • 6 Mars: Claes is the keynote speaker at the annual meeting for Destination Uddevalla.  
  • 31 January  - 1 February: Claes is speaking at the Leadership Forum 2012 for the Swedish Hospitality Industry. The Leadership Forum is arranged by the Swedish Hotel and Restaurant Association where Claes Bjerkne is the Chairman of the Board. The forum gathers leaders in the Swedish hospitality and tourism sector to discuss the future of the sector. 
  • January: Presentation and deliverance of the final report for Edinburgh Tourism Vision & Strategy 2020. 
2011: 
  • 14-16 November: Claes is holding two seminars in Bergen, Norway about successful destination development and key success factors. 
  • 26-28 October: Presention of the proposed Strategies and Actions for Edinburgh 2020 to Edinburgh Tourism Action Group. (ETAG)
  • October: Bjerkne & Co moves into new and bigger offices. Come visit us at Hugo Grauers Gata 3B in Gothenburg!
  • October: The evaluation of the first season for the new Adventure at Karlsborgs Fortress has been completed. The number of visitors were doubled already this first season. See the short movie below to hear more about the project and what we did. 
 
 
 
 

About Claes Bjerkne

Claes Bjerkne has held a number of regional, national and international top assignments during the years. For almost two decades he developed and marketed Gothenburg as a destination. He built up Göteborg & Co from the beginning in 1990, and was the company’s CEO until 2009.
